Network management concepts
Network management generally involves the provisioning, configuration, security and measurement practices used to strengthen and maintain the efficiency of the company's network infrastructure.
Network provisioning corresponds to either automating the initial configuration of a network device, or configuring network access for users, for example.
Network configuration involves defining the desired state of networks or devices, then maintaining them in that state over time.
Network security involves setting up security systems and management protocols that protect networks against cyberattacks. Network administrators establish and implement firewalls and fault management systems.
Network measurement includes network monitoring and testing, problem resolution, maintaining operational availability and developing post-accident recovery plans. These processes help maintain network performance and efficiency.
