What does BIM mean and what is its purpose?
Like most business sectors, the building industry has been moving resolutely towards digital technology for several years.
BIM is an approach based on building data modeling, which enables a digital model to be collaboratively enriched with project information for the structure, both in design, construction and operation/maintenance. This representation of 3D objects and associated data, also known as a BIM model, gives access to all the information on a structure.
This digital representation makes it possible to meet the optimization and performance challenges of all those involved in the act of building (project owners, architects, project managers, contractors, operators...) and for all types of building: housing, industrial, service sector, infrastructure, engineering structures... CIM is BIM applied to the scale of neighborhoods and cities.
