What is Business Telephony over IP?
IP telephony, also known as VOIP or voice over IP, is a technology that enables telephone conversations to be transmitted over computer networks such as the Internet. Unlike traditional telephony, which uses dedicated telephone lines, IP telephony uses the Internet connection to transmit voice.
What are the benefits for my organization?
The major advantage of VoIP is reducing telecommunications costs. This technological innovation reduces the infrastructure required for voice telecommunications. Sound quality is better in some cases, compared with conventional telephone lines. This technology also offers greater flexibility for companies wishing to add or remove users according to their needs, without having to install new telephone lines.
Users can make or receive calls from any medium thanks to the cloud (computer, tablet, smartphone...), while benefiting from a quality of service identical to that provided by operators. In addition to calls, VoIP solutions also integrate unified communication options for landlines and mobile phones: call recording, videoconferencing, professional SMS...
They can also be easily integrated with other communications applications and services, such as video conferencing and instant messaging. Last but not least, VoIP telephony solutions can be easily scaled up to meet business growth needs without incurring additional costs. The use of a VoIP solution therefore represents a significant asset for companies wishing tofluidify their exchanges, and benefit from interoperabilityof their communication media.
What are the different types of IP telephony?
