The plant was initially designed to be expandable, and the system's maximum capacity, taking into account future extensions, will be 4,000 liters per segment. In 2018, the customer wanted to increase production from 2,500 liters per segment to over 3,000 liters per segment. For the execution, it called on an engineering company who commissioned Equans to carry out the extension of the control system required by the plant.

The main challenge of the project isto integrate the existing system with the new expansion, as well as incorporating communication protocols for all plant equipment(electrical and instrumentation). To avoid any loss of production during integration, the plant's simulators are tuned to specific plant-wide configuration manuals, and integration between an existing simulated system and the real one is amplified.
