The urban supervision center (CSU) is a centralized device for collecting, monitoring and managing data and information. It aims to ensure safety, efficient infrastructure management and coordination of urban activities.
The systems monitored may include video surveillance systems such as cameras for urban surveillance, traffic management and road safety code, public transport surveillance, fire detection, disaster management, etc.
Who can enter an urban surveillance center?
The CSU can be used by municipal authorities, police departments, emergency services and other entities responsible for city management.
How does it work?
The CSU includes a real-time viewing room and a replay room for video recordings, which are kept for a period of time defined by the local authorities. This could be 30 days, for example.
Operators are then responsible for viewing the recorded images 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, and can alert the authorities if any offenses are detected. Recordings collected can be viewed after the fact, if required by the police or local authorities.
Urban supervision center: regulations
Access to images may vary according to current legislation defined by the code la sécurité intérieur. However, here are the general conditions often in place for access:
- Limited to persons authorized by law,
- Allowed to persons with a legitimate need to consult them (persons involved in criminal investigations for example),
- Images may contain sensitive information about individuals. It is therefore essential to comply with privacy laws and regulations.
- Recordings must be retained in accordance with applicable regulations. This may include specified retention periods for recordings, as well as appropriate security measures to protect data integrity and confidentiality.
- Access to images must be protected by appropriate security measures such as authentication systems, physical access controls, etc. This ensures that there is traceability in the event of unauthorized access.
What are the benefits?
It offers numerous advantages for urban management and public safety.
Equans Digital's expertise in public safety
Our teams don't just install urban cameras or video surveillance systems.
We can help you design, deploy and integrate urban surveillance systems. But also in the management of the technical infrastructures necessary for the smooth running of your Urban Supervision Center.
Our teams work with you, collaboratively, to understand your specific urban surveillance needs and design a suitable solution. This involves determining the types of systems and new technologies required such as CCTV cameras, environmental sensors etc.
We then help you select the most appropriate equipment and technologies to meet the requirements of your CSU and install them.
Finally, we integrate all CSU components to ensure their interoperability and smooth operation. This may involve, for example, configuring systems, setting up network connections etc.
Once the integration stage is finalized, we train surveillance operators and set up ongoing technical support should the need arise.
