As part of the construction of the new law enforcement headquarters and its support services in Melbourne, Equans Digital designed, deployed, and maintains a fully secure audiovisual infrastructure capable of meeting the requirements of a mission-critical environment. Incorporating more than a thousand pieces of audiovisual equipment connected to a dedicated private network, the project now enables operational and administrative teams to collaborate effectively in a modern, reliable, and highly secure environment.
A Strategic Project in the Heart of Melbourne
Located in the heart of Melbourne’s business district, this new headquarters represents a major investment designed to bring together the various law enforcement agencies and their support services under one roof. With over 65,500 m² spread across 40 floors, the facility needed to provide modern workspaces while meeting strict requirements for security, availability, and data confidentiality.
To support this initiative, Equans Digital was selected to design, supply, integrate, and maintain all of the building’s audiovisual systems.
Challenges of the Audiovisual & Video Project at the Melbourne Law Enforcement Headquarters

The project required the implementation of a very large-scale audiovisual ecosystem integrating communication, collaboration, and information dissemination in a building housing several thousand employees. The solutions had to ensure performance, reliability, and ease of use while complying with particularly stringent cybersecurity requirements
The entire audiovisual infrastructure was required to operate on an independent private network in order to protect sensitive data and ensure the confidentiality of communications between the various departments.
The volume of equipment to be integrated posed a major logistical challenge that required meticulous preparation, rigorous organisation, and precise management throughout the project.
The building was designed to enable teams to communicate and collaborate effectively through spaces equipped with videoconferencing and audiovisual communication technologies tailored to users' needs.

The project involves the deployment of more than 1,268 connected audiovisual devices within the building. To ensure smooth logistics and meet implementation deadlines, an entire floor of the building was temporarily converted into a center for storing, preparing, and preconfiguring the equipment.
The headquarters has been equipped with more than 100 videoconferencing systems to facilitate communication between teams spread across different floors and with external partners.
The audiovisual infrastructure thus helps streamline communication and improve employees’ operational efficiency.
The project also incorporated more than 80 network switches as well as an IP-based audio infrastructure covering the entire building. This architecture facilitates the transmission of audio and video streams while ensuring a high level of quality and security.
In addition to deploying equipment, Equans Digital teams oversee, update, and maintain the various systems to ensure they remain in good working order and are available over the long term.
