Deployment of a fire station alert system and asset retention contract
Gastier was chosen by SIM (Le service incendie de Montréal) to design, deploy, commission and maintain a fire station alert system. SIM has 67 fire stations (5th largest city with as many fire stations), making it the 2nd largest fire department in Canada and the 7th largest in North America, with some 2,500 firefighters working there.
Gastier has deployed a software application to handle information placed at the 911 call center concerning the SIM, with the ultimate aim of improving response time for each emergency situation, as well as automating the transfer of calls to the right fire station.
Main features of the systems deployed in fire stations:
- Retransmission of 911 calls to the right responders, depending on the nature of the disaster and its geography
- The software manages incoming calls to transcribe them in voice and text, to the fire station concerned. The fire station then receives the information on screen and in audio, using a text-to-speech system. The use of 4 text recognition systems are implemented in the local French-speaking Quebec contextualization to transcribe the correct instructions.
