Achieve results focused on patient care and operational efficiency.
In collaboration with Alberta Health Sciences, Plan Group designed, built and implemented technology that will increase patient and staff satisfaction, reduce energy consumption and create operational efficiencies to provide a higher level of care in southern Alberta. Plan Group was the leader for all healthcare technology systems, related systems integration and automated workflows.
Building on extensive experience in the design and implementation of intelligent hospitals, the Plan Group team deployed a context-aware environment that was personalized, anticipatory, adaptive and capable of complex semi-autonomous interactions.
By implementing technologies designed and integrated to improve patient experience and clinical outcomes, doctors and nurses are better able to fulfill their roles and deliver safer, more effective patient care. As a result, clinicians can spend more time providing direct care at the bedside.
Here are some of the key features of the smart hospital:
- Automatic Guided Vehicles (AGVs) are self-guided robots that move at the speed of an average person. They are integrated into the building and clinical systems to call elevators, open doors and transport food and supplies throughout the hospital.
- Patient Environment Consoles (PECs) are located in each patient room and control temperature, lighting and smart windows, ensuring a comfortable environment for treatment and healing. Automation of all three systems allows the building to dynamically adapt to weather conditions.
- Unified communication through the use of pillow speakerson the nurse call system, allows patients to converse with their assigned care team and automatically ramps up to ensure all calls are answered and handled in a timely manner.
