Equans AudioVisual Technologies was hired to provide audiovisual technology that met performance-based specifications.
The Ballarat GovHub is a unique new multi-purpose government building, housing up to 1,000 employees from various departments on five floors of high-quality office space in the heart of Ballarat.
The aim of the development is to support the revitalization of Ballarat's central business district and generate long-term growth and the development of further private sector investment.
The Ballarat GovHub comprises more than 50 spaces, including meeting rooms, training rooms, collaborative spaces and multi-purpose rooms.
Equans was tasked with finalizing the systems design and working with the manufacturer and stakeholdersto ensure that the multiple spaces were fit for purpose. Technology deployed included Sennheiser Speechline wireless systems, Hitachi videoconferencing capabilities and Crestron to enhance user productivity and support hybrid working. As Ballarat GovHub houses numerous government departments, the AV system needed to support BYOD (Bring-Your-Own-Device) applications for all teams and departments.
The technology installed includes wireless presentation systems, interactivity and Crestron Flex video conferencing capabilities for easy, reliable and efficient collaboration. Motion sensors have been installed to ensure that systems shut down when not in use to reduce energy consumption. In addition, the design and equipment were carefully chosen and standardized to ensure a familiar and consistent user experience across multiple building levels and government sites.
The overall construction project budget was in excess of $100 million and includes a multi-storey solid timber structure, the largest timber office building in Victoria. The project also features a glazed conservatory creating a strong link between the existing Civic Hall and the new office building, reflecting the intention to bridge the gap between the local community and government activity.
Equans AudioVisual Technologies was instrumental in providing the technology to create an engaging and collaborative environment for the local neighborhood.
