Present in Qatar since 1936, it was in 1991 that Total Energie discovered the Al Khalij oil field located some 130 km east of the Qatari coast. It began production in 1997. Today, 22,000 barrels are produced every day. Keen to be less energy-intensive and produce at lower cost itself, Total Energie called on our colleagues at Axima Marine for an energy efficiency audit for its Al Khalij wellhead (offshore) platform.
What emerged: the need to install new, less energy-intensive chillersin order to reduce the platform's energy consumption.
So it was a complete renovation of the heating, ventilation and air conditioning system that was carried out by our colleagues at Axima Marinefrom the ateliers de Lorient.
As a complement, Equans Digital's AEE Department provided the following services: electrical cabinet construction, programming, Factory Acceptance Test and remote assistance with on-site testing.
Equans Digital's AEE department produced two units: the first comprises an AHU (air handling unit) and an ACCU (chiller unit), and the second, 2 AHUs and 2 ACCUs.
Rockwell redundant PLCs, and ATEX sensors.
The project was completed in 2019, with commissioning in September 2023 (delay due to the health crisis) on the Total Oil and Gas platform in Qatar.
This project brings together both G1MN (Marine Nantes), G1G1 (Automatismes Lorient) and G1MR (Marine réfrigération Lorient).
