Use technology to plan and maintain theatrical systems and ensure that the show goes on.
A state-of-the-art entertainment center, designed, built and maintained by Plan Group, uses the latest 3D holographic lenses and building intelligence to create a digital twin enabling virtual troubleshooting and automated maintenance workflows.
Working in an environment where 5,000 VIP spectators expect world-class shows without any interruption or degradation of service due to technological problems is no small feat. Accessing and maintaining equipment mounted 40 feet off the ground is even more challenging.
The Plan Group team deployed a building intelligence system to collect and analyze data from the various systems to form a digital twin, enabling operators to simulate and test various conditions before full deployment. Augmented reality has been added to enable facility management teams to safely and accurately monitor all theatrical performance systems to ensure that optimum audio specifications are continually met.
The benefits of deploying digital twins are particularly valuable in harsh environments. Using a virtual holographic lens and viewing a 3D model of the system, a technician can quickly diagnose the faulty device, find replacement parts and understand the history of specific components. The digital twin also enables operators tounderstand the facility's energy consumption and test scenarios based on sample occupancy rates to virtually understand the impact of adjusting temperatures, lighting conditions and overall electricity consumption, and make informed data-driven decisions.
